| Customer Reviews: Great Product September 1, 2010 Happy Couple (HappyTown, Florida) I just received my safe yesterday, not a scratch or anything, the entire thing is packed in a box on top of a wooden pallet. After opening it took a little time fidgeting with the nuts holding it to the pallet but no big deal. You will need 4 AA batteries to use the safe. Very heavy and very sturdy. As for the comments about the skeleton keys, if the person had actually taken 2 seconds to read the directions for the safe he would have realized where he can put the key. I would definitely recommend the safe if you are looking for some general protection. It is not a fireproof burglar safe (hint since its not like $1500) but a very good sturdy safe that will give you good protection from your general burglar.
Plastic Chinese electronic lock July 29, 2010 frugal3 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this safe and it comes with two skeleton keys for some reason. I couldn't find a keyhole for the "back-up/panic lock", so started prying the round black plastic disc off the lever handle on the front door, thinking maybe it was concealed under there. Wrong !
So you get this nice safe with a Chinese mfg. electronic push-button lock and no mechanical back-up. If the lock goes on the blink or a dis-gruntled thief takes his frustration out on the plastic lock, you the owner will be Sawz-alling to get at your' guns.
I would suggest you pass on electronic locks and get a safe that uses a mechanical combination with a key back-up, or one or the other by itself.
